We are in the midst of the coldest season,Winter, and it’s time to look at how some famous artists have depicted snowy landscapes.
One of a series of paintings by the artist which are held in Vienna showing a tired hunting party arriving back home to a bustling snowy scene.
This picture is part of a series of paintings which Monet painted of scenary close to his new family home.
Monet was a master of the French Winter scene painting around 140 of them. This is Monet’s largest Winter painting depicting a single magpie sat on a gate. His use of colour is very interesting in all the bluey shadows cast around in the snow.

Winter’s Day was painted c.1980. John Trickett is a talented painter of mainly dogs and landscapes. He has won the Silver Medal of International Animal Painters in France. He has painted many winter landscapes featuring birds and dogs and is widely collected as an artist both here and abroad .
