The World’s greatest dog show is upon us again from 8th- 11th March at the NEC in Birmingham. Crufts began in 1981 with about 2000 dogs taking part. This year dogs from 48 countries outside the UK will take part. Crufts is presented on TV by the ever popular Clare Balding. Featuring on the show will be Supervet, Noel Fitzpatrick, to talk about his new charity, The Humanimal Trust.
John Trickett is probably the best painter of black labradors in this country. He has a wide following both here and abroad.
Although labradors won Best in Show at Crufts three times in the 1930’s, they haven’t managed to come out on top since. However, the labrador did come first in a recent poll voted by the public for Britain’s top 100 dogs. Ben Fogle presented a television programme on ITV to announce the winners with his black labrador, Storm , by his side.
