John has always enjoyed painting buildings and people, but it was during a visit to London with his son Sam and his wife Mieke that this interest reached a different level.

He found the mix of new and old fascinating, and the vibrancy and bustle of London a world apart from the small village in Nottinghamshire he calls home.

Subsequent visits provided sketches and photographic reference which have formed the basis of his first group of pictures of the capital.

Apart from the iconic views of London, he has also produced street scenes where the focus is the traffic and people of London going about their everyday business. The sheer diversity of London guarantees there will be no shortage of subjects for john to capture in oils, something he looks forward to with great anticipation.
