About the artist
Although John has always loved painting animals he also has a great fondness for marine art and it is a subject that he returns to time and time again. He grew up around Grimsby, painting fishing boats and now he loves painting in other parts of the country, especially Cornwall. He has a fine ability to create that magical light glinting on the water at different times of the day and in different seasons. There is nothing he likes better than taking his sketchpad off for a few days to the coast and you will see by these new examples of his work, it is still one of his favourite genres.
The detail and subdued pallette used in this painting are truky exquisite and is definitely one of my favourite paintings in this series.
