About the Artist
Born in Sheffield John’s paintings of black labradors were once described by the Shooting Times as some of the finest in the World. He is renowned for his pictures of animals and the countryside but his career, when he first began in Humberside, started with many harbour scenes. He often returns to this marine theme for inspiration and is something he loves to do.He is a natural colourist and his depiction of light on water is beautiful.
“My early days painting were spent in Grimsby, which was he biggest fishing port in the world at that time. as a result, many of my subjects were of fishing boats and other marine subjects. Marine art is still one of my favourite genres” From Reflections of the Countryside by John Trickett.
Knowing John as I do he is a complete perfectionist and has a great eye for composition. Despite having no formal training he is a fine artist and widely collected at home and abroad.
